SILS offer of a broad and balanced curriculum which is underpinned by excellent teaching enables all learners to reach their potential.
Students are encouraged to focus on knowledge and understanding whilst developing the skills they will need to be successful independent learners and to support re-integration to mainstream schools.
Students at KS3 have access to:
- An academic curriculum: English Language, Mathematics, Humanities, ICT, Art, Food Technology, Design & Technology, PSHE, PE and SEAL
- Specialist interventions: counselling, art therapy, mentoring, pastoral care, etc.
- Enrichment and social development activities
- Reintegration to mainstream and outreach support
Students in Year 9 also have the opportunity to begin studying for accredited qualifications in English, Maths, ICT and Food Technology, and access to vocational learning as part of the transition to KS4.
