In order to help prepare students for their GCSE English courses, KS3 students attended a ‘Write Here!’ creative writing workshop at the British Library. This workshop encouraged students to generate new work and be inspired by some of the great writers and original drafts housed at the British Library.
Students were guided through a range of imaginative activities by a professional writer to get their creative juices flowing. They were encouraged to be playful with their writing, but also to experiment with a range of techniques to progress their work and develop their confidence as creative writers.
The Write Here! workshop took the students on a tour all over the Library, to the Learning Centre, Treasures Gallery and public spaces. The workshop included looking at some of the inspirational original drafts on display, such as the Magna Carta and the Gutenberg Bible.
